What I've been doing in EQ

Got to go on a Plane of Time raid a few days ago :D The first phase included splitting the raid up - the half of the raid I was in had to fight air creatures, undead and fish:


After that, the big clock door opened:


And we had to fight a big army of creatures that the gods created to protect themselves (yeah, Plane of Time = keeling many gods). Er, no pictures for this phase.

And then it was finally time to kill some gods. Including Saryrn, which I had raided before in the Plane of Torment:

After that, I had to go to bed T___T So no more god (+ four headed dragon) killing for me =/ Being in a different time zone sucks...

I've also been exploring some new zones :D Behold, the Mechamatic Guardian, a giant robot that stomps through Dragonscale Hills. Get too close, and he will CRUSH you.


The Guardian's also a zone itself, which you can enter through its foot...if you don't get kicked by him first...

New SC4 infos...

So...er...IGN previewed Vader and Yoda, but no one really cares about them. Here are the interesting tidbits:

"Yoda gets to do battle in an Imperial shuttle bay. Set on a raised walkway, the arena is long, but narrow. To make it just a touch more interesting, there are energy fields that move up and down the path during battle, expanding and retracting the fighting area throughout the contest."

Changing stage size is gonna be pretty intwesting. Also, the video of Vader's moves shows Hilde's armor breaking, which is pretty cool :P You can see her breastplate shattering and revealing her red undercoat:

So, according to this post here, Hilde's profile page mentions that she saved the life of Saria. Saria used to be part of Siegfried's "Schwartzwind" and apparently assumed leadership when he disappeared. Someone mentioned that she appeared as a background character in Soul Calibur I...so I did a bit of digging :P

You shoulda seen the beaver suits...

Part of the reason why I'm excited about the new Chronicles of Narnia movies (with Prince Caspian coming out next month) is because I wanna heal the horror that the 1989 version caused me.

I'm talking about people in animal suits. Even as a 8-ish year old (I forgot how old I was when I first read the books and watched the movies), those actors pretending to be talking in animals were REALLY BAD.

Example, the 1989 version of Reepicheep the mouse:


Picture quality's bad, but that is indeed a dude in an mouse suit. With another dude in an badger suit standing behind him.

Now let's compare it to the 2008 version of Reepicheep:

Not that this 2008 version is perfect, of course. Here's a list of complaints that won't make sense unless you've read the books (HINT HINT):

• Prince Caspian is supposed to be 13. THIRTEEN YEARS OLD IN THIS MOVIE. The actor who plays him is TWENTY SIX. GODDAMMIT. (He's also supposed to be blonde -_-)
  
• Okay, what is this rumor about a Caspian/Susan love interest??? THIS IS NOT RIGHT FOR SO MANY REASONS WHICH ARE SPOILERS SO I WON'T TYPE THEM HERE (...basically, they have very different and separate fates in the books).
  
• ...Telmarines have Spanish accents? I mean, sure they're supposed to be descended from Spanish pirates, but you'd think they'd either just keep on speaking Spanish or adopt a Narnian (British) accent after living there for...er...many, many, many generations...
  

Having said that, they better make a movie outta The Silver Chair, and it better be good O___O (Voyage of the Dawn Treader was good too, but yeah)

On Time Talkback, someone posted THIS PICTURE of a Rain messageboard which supposedly shows Rain fans cheating by using automatic voting. Rain fans were not pleased.


The post goes on for a while :P

Before that though, I'll present my crazy random theory first: Scheherazade is the daughter of Link (from his guest character appearance in SC2) and Ivy. Yeeeepp...


Anyways, as I was browsing for new info on Soul Calibur 4 today, I came across this post. To summarize:

• Siegfried is based on the Norse hero Sigurd (known as Siegfried in the German epic poem)


• Namco have been using Sigurd for inspiration. Examples include:
  
  
  • Sigurd killing the dragon Fafnir --> Siegfried killing Fafnir in SC Legends
    
  • Sigurd having a sword named Gram --> One of Sieg's weapons is a sword named Glam


• Now, this is the important part. Sigurd falls in love with Brynhildr. She's also known as Brünnhilde. BrünnHILDE.


• What we know so far about Hilde in SC4 is that she met up with Siegfried at some point (it really doesn't say much more than that). However, in Sieg's bio, it mentions a "figure he could possibly call a new friend." Also, someone is apparently trying to become his ally:
  

  Someone's calling. However, he can't understand it well. He gazed. He saw nothing....It called again. This time, it was clearly audible.
  "Already, you don't accept me as an ally?"
  "But, nobody wants to get involved with me. Those who were involved with me...everyone died or ended possessed. Therefore, just leave. Forget me."
  The voice answered. His consciousness lost focus and blurs, and someone else speaks from behind.
  "I have seen your deeds. And now, you regret those crimes and lives only to atone for them....Aren't you too a victim of that sword?"
  "No...even if those words provided comfort, I did nothing to stop those crimes. For that...having injured my father, that I did it myself. The cursed sword was not involved."

  This new friend and ally could very well refer to Hilde. Plus, Hilde IS pretty much the female equivalent of Sieg with the whole full plate look.


• So yeah, very, very possible Sieg/Hilde pairing here, which raises a few questions...
  
  
  • Did...did they design Hilde specifically to be Siegfried's love interest? O__o
  • WTH is gonna happen in SC4?
  • Or SC5 for that matter? If Sieg and Hilde settle down at the end of this, my guess is that neither will be in SC5 and they'll hafta be replaced by other characters. Or maybe this is Namco's way of tying up loose ends and ending the Soul Calibur series at 4 O_O
  • What happened to the Soul Calibur that had none of this lovey crap? Or Star Wars guest characters? Or elvish guest characters? T___T

*grumbles* I blame Kilik and Xianghua for starting this... -_-

EDIT: Huh...looks like I was right about the thing about Hilde as the potential ally, someone summarized her bio :P

• A "minor character from Siegfried's background history" - perhaps his mommy Margaret? The one who's still alive and probably has no idea where her son is? And is therefore probably worried sick and is trying to find him?
  
• "Apparent connections between the founding of the kingdom and a certain holy blade" - Namco DID say they were gonna talk more about the king who once wielded Soul Edge (and was strong enough not to become corrupted) and who created Soul Calibur. Maybe Hilde's kingdom = founded from that king's old kingdom?

EQ's 9th Anniversary

...and as usual, I'm not playing right now so I can't enjoy the celebrations -_- Anyways, the developers released a cool EQ Timeline on their blog, so I decided to modify it a bit with my own accomplishments/adventures/failures/deaths/etc. over the course of EQ's existance. Cause yeah, it's Spring Break and I can.

How bad was the injury? Let's just say that I saw the picture of the initial impact and had to close it immediately. They're not even showing the replay on TV. According to Wiki,

Apparently his surgery went well...but yeah...I'm praying that his career isn't over...he's only 24 and he just moved to Arsenal this season T___T

So I found some translations for the Soul Calibur 4 character profiles that were posted on the Project Soul site.

Here are the basic profiles of the characters that have been announced so far. Seems as if everyone is following/stalking/hunting down either Nightmare or Siegfried. Intwesting...

Here's the backstory for Siegfried (Nightmare's backstory got released too, but no one's translated it yet T___T). But yeah, it's damn confusing. Interesting note though:

"He holds down his chest within the armor. There, a big scar laid."

Me: ...Zoro? O__o

(I think this means that one of Sieg's alternate outfits will show off the huge scar though)

So yeah...to sum up, big conflict up ahead :P

A BRAZILIAN COURT BANS EVERQUEST

As for EverQuest, Procon states that it "takes the gamer to complete moral conflict and 'heavy' psychological conflicts; for the tasks that are given to them could be bad or good...Violent videogames that use violence are capable of forming agressive individuals, making it evident that is strong its influence on psyquism, reinforcing aggressive attitude against certain individuals and social groups."

BWAH!!! Moral conflicts?! Violence?! Just because EQ players sometimes beat up little girls and steal their nighties doesn't mean EQ creates aggressive individuals!
